Sports Week- CENSA

        As announced, CENSA successfully conducted it's intra-branch sports occasion through the 26th-28th of February 2012. Thanks to Secratary- Sports, Mr Dilip Kumar and his deputy Mr Harshith for their co-ordination and organization. Special thanks indeed to Prof. Ujwal.U.J., our President, Mr. Krishna Mohan.A.J. and Mr. Sonu Singh Yadav, representatives from the teaching fraternity who actively participated in the sporting events and indoor games. Also grateful thanks to Mr. Balapradeep.K.N. for his strong guidance and thoughtful insight.

CENSA Sports and Games 2012-Circular



      
This is to inform all the students of CSE/ISE that CENSA will be conducting indoor games.

The Great Mind Challenge Guidance Workshop

        On Thursday last week, the 16th of February, 2012, Mr. Chinmay Saraswat from IBM visited our campus to enlighten the students of CSE/ISE branches about the procedures of participation in TGMC. He introduced us to tools provided by IBM for effective project development viz-a-viz. Tivoli, RAD, DB2, etc.

What is TGMC?
The Great Mind Challenge (TGMC) is an annual nationwide software development competition, created by the Academic Initiative of IBM. The competition currently takes place only in India and is only open to engineering students from within the country.

IBM DB2 9.7 Workshop

        From the 21st of October 2011, a workshop was conducted in our campus, at the behest of CENSA. The  subject of discussion was IBM DB2 9.7. The program was conducted exclusively for the pre-final year students.  The resource person was Mr. Ratnam from IBM. The students were given appropriate training on the IBM product. An online examination was conducted to assess the knowledge they had gained on the subject. The exam was conducted on the 15th of November, 2011. A total of 59 students cleared the exam and were certified as IBM professionals.

What is IBM DB2?
The IBM DB2 Enterprise Server Edition is a relational model database server developed by IBM. It primarily runs on Unix (namely AIX), Linux, IBM i (formerly OS/400),z/OS and Windows servers. DB2 also powers the different IBM InfoSphere Warehouse editions. Alongside DB2 is another RDBMS: Informix, which was acquired by IBM in 2001.

IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 8 Workshop

        From the 23rd of December 2011 a sponsored workshop was conducted by IBM on one of its products, IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 8. The resource person was Mr. Mohammed Adnan, representing IBM. The duration of the program was four days followed by an online examination which was conducted on the 25th of January 2012 under the supervision of Mr. Sachin Kumar R.S., Representative from the Academic Initiative wing of IBM. The workshop was conducted exclusively for the final year students. A total of 85 students cleared the online test and were certified as IBM professionals.

What is Lotus?
IBM Lotus Notes is the client of a collaborative client-server platform. IBM Lotus Domino is the application server. Lotus Notes provides integrated collaboration functionality, including email, calendaring, contacts management, to do tracking, instant messaging, an office productivity suite (IBM Lotus Symphony), and access to other Lotus Domino applications and databases. Lotus Notes can also be integrated with additional collaboration capabilities including voice and video conferencing, online meetings, discussions, forums, blogs, file sharing, micro-blogs, and user directories. In addition to these standard applications the organization may use the IBM Lotus Domino Designer development environment and other tools to develop additional integrated applications such as request approval / workflow and document management.
